CHOY WENG YANG  蔡荣恩

Singapore

Choy Weng Yang’s exposure to Western arts in his curatorship tenure has highly influenced his abstract impressionist style. Choy’s distinguished style lies in his mastery over-layering brushstrokes with a complementary mix of colours. Choy Weng Yang expresses through the freedom of his brushwork and precise placement of strokes and textures. He does not use colour to describe the form of his subject matter, but rather uses colour and the play of brushstrokes as the subject matter itself. Choy Weng Yang’s fascination with light and the sensuality of colours are best expressed in his presentation of the scenes along the Singapore River.
