BIOGRAPHY

TEW NAI TONG 赵振强

Malaysia | 1936 - 2013

Tew Nai Tong was born in Klang, Malaysia in 1936. He studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts graduating in 1958. In 1967 he went to Paris and was admitted to the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts to study painting. Returning to Malaysia from Paris in 1968, now fully charged with aspirations and diverse painting resources, Nai Tong immediately began his attempt to forge his fresh and far-reaching direction in his artistic endeavour. The Malaysian Village life – with its ethnic traditions, exotic life-style, energetic ethos, colourful ambience – struck him as the flawless painting theme which offered limitless possibilities for his figurative and colour visual expressions. From 2002 Nai Tong unleashed his monumental Village Life Series followed by the Fantasy Series.
