The elegant vases of orange daisies by Wang Mo Ping belong to his well known still life series. These series of paintings were accomplished in his studio where he would observe the play of natural light and resulting shadows during different periods of the day. This piece in particular has a darker setting which not as common in his series, the warmer hues gives the painting a romantic ambience.
Wang Mo Ping was awarded the first prize in the oil painting category at the Dr Tan Tze Chor Art Awards organised by the Singapore Art Society in 2019.
