Chua Ek Kay visited Borobudur in Indonesia thrice in his lifetime. The ancient cultural site and its legends became a source of inspiration for his painting. Using fine lines and the spirit of sketching, he captured the carvings from the magnificent temple. Paintings from this series reflect Ek Kay’s temperament for experimentation.
