Lim Tze Peng has fond memories of the times he spent in Kampungs. Those were the days where people were truly living in nature and daily activities very much dependent on weather conditions. This unique painting emphasises that interrelatedness and highlights the beauties of nature through the vibrant illustration of the monumental tree.
Lim Tze Peng who was born to farmers in a Pasir Ris kampung in 1921 and started painting in the 1950s. He pursued his passion full time in 1981, after retiring as principal of Xin Min School. He won the prestigious culture medallion award in 2003 and was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal at the National Day Awards in 2016.
