In the 1980s, Lim Tze Peng went to the Kallang Basin and Tanjong Rhu to paint the activities, boats and sceneries at the Kallang Basin. It was a response of the mass clean up exercise of the Singapore River and Kallang Basin which was put in place by the government between 1977 and 1987. At that time, a good number of shipbuilders had to relocate, close down or merge to form larger companies to invest in anti-pollution measures. The artist took the opportunity to visit and paint before drastic changes to the landscape took place.

What stands out in this painting would be the main subject of the vessel and the slight touches of reds and blues on its hull. The skies and waters were beautifully painted as well with lighter shades of the above-mentioned colours being applied. Overall, it is evident that the artist was meticulous while creating this painting.
