When Lim Tze Peng was painting along the Singapore River around 40 years ago, the river was busy and bustling. Most people living in the area would call it the “Mother River” as the livelihood of many people depended on it and it also contributed greatly to the country’s economy. Lim Tze Peng has expressed multiple times that he has deep feelings and love for the River. He finds it meaningful ti reminisce the scenes along the river and depict them in his paintings. Lim Tze Peng won the Cultural Medallion Award in 2003 for his artistic excellence and contributions to the arts in Singapore.
