Taking on a vertical composition, this beautiful painting by Marvin Chew depicts a scene of the iconic Riverside Point along the Singapore River. A captivating aspect of this painting would be the illustration of the Read Bridge on the left of the composition, it differs from most paintings where bridges along the Singapore River might be positioned horizontally across the artwork. In this painting, Marvin incorporates Chinese ink painting ideas and concepts, most evident in the portrayal of the sky which covers half of the composition. The leaving of vast empty space forges a casual, pleasant ambience in this painting.

In 2016, Marvin participated in “Memoirs of City Port Scenes”, an exhibition jointly organised by Maritime Port Authority and Singapore Watercolour Society, held at Visual Arts Centre, Singapore. In 2018, he participated in the inaugural "International Watercolour Masters Exhibition” at Weston Park, United Kingdom.
