This painting by Liu Xuan Qi is part of his new endeavour of merging elements of local cultures into his “Wandering cloud” series which are typically marked only by the cloud and the lion. In this painting, Liu Xuan Qi found inspiration from local lions and chose to express it in red due to the colour’s auspicious symbolism. Like sunlight that shines upon this earth, the yellow background also brings about a positive energy. Looking up at the cloud above, the red lion ponders about his aspirations and wonders what the future holds.
