The back alleys at Geylang exude a certain charm brought about by the conduction of daily activities carried out by inhabitants living in the shophouses and Terraces. This iconic place in Singapore is home to various temples, churches, clans and associations with long histories. It also houses a large number of eateries and coffee shops which provide a wide range of food options for those living there.
Watercolorist Marvin Chew forges a quiet, rustic ambience in this painting which nicely contrasts with the hustle and bustle of the location which many are familiar with. In 2021, Marvin was appointed as a signature member of the National Watercolour Society in the USA.
