Like many of his predecessors and contemporaries, Singaporean artist Tung Yue Nang is captivated by the beauties of Bali Island. In 2019, he spent 3 weeks in Ubud and painted its magnificent landscapes, busy temples and markets.
In this painting, we see the locals at Bali carrying out praying sessions with offerings under a large old tree. There are many things to appreciate in this artwork. One of which includes the detailed way in which the tree is painted and how interestingly it covers a large area of this composition. The other aspect would be the expression of mist which stretches right across the bottom of the composition.
