The lotus is an ever present theme in traditional Chinese ink paintings. Terence Teo interprets this iconic subject with his distinct style of layering multiple tonalities of colours over one another. The individual flowers are brought out with brisk black lines surrounding splashes of pink. This differs from classical expressions yet the lightness of the subject and medium remains.
