Fan was a private pupil of Wang Geyu who was in turn one of the few personal students of Wu Changshuo, a leading figure of the famed Shanghai School in Chinese Painting. this background gave Fan and Nai special places in Singapore’s art history. Naturally, Nai Swee Leng exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. He helped found the Molan art Association and is presently its advisor.
