Foo Chee San loved painting in Chinese ink and creating works of art in the outdoors. He felt freedom in the lightness of the medium and after he had mastered it, he painted in the styles of an Impressionist, following the footsteps of his NAFA lecturers who practiced rural landscapes of Southeast Asia in the past. With frequent travels to Malaysia, his painting encapsulates the beauty of kampungs and various fishing villages in old towns.
