Eng Siak Loy used to travel frequently to different places such as Bali, Nepal, Taiwan and mainland China in his younger days. He believes that a good painting that is inspired from those trips is one that captures the scenery but more importantly seizes the lifestyle and activities of the locals.
In 2017, Mr Eng staged an important exhibition at the Singapore Botanical Gardens. Paintings based on the historical evolution of Singapore, major sculptures and murals he created for the gardens were on display. In 2018, Cape of Good Hope Art Gallery held a solo exhibition which showcased numerous oil paintings by the famous Singaporean artist.
