Little India holds a special significance to Zhu Hong. It was the first place he ever depicted in his paintings when he begun his career as an artist. Zhu Hong was captivated by the brilliant colours that adorned the shophouses, the variety of goods that were on sale and the aroma from the cuisines at Little India. He expressed these enjoyments of the senses through the thick oil textures and splashes of vibrant colours in these paintings of Little India.
