There are a couple of points to be highlighted in this painting by Wang Mo Ping. First, the artist captures the specific instance that leaf in the center of the painting falls onto to the surface of the water. The ripples illustrated in close proximity to this leaf indicate this moment. Second, the presence of a nice clear weather is made known to viewers through the reflections of fluffy white clouds on the top left of the painting. This airy space is nicely balanced by the complexity forged by the blend of different colors in the rest of the painting.
Wang Mo Ping was a former lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. To date, he has held 6 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions. In 2019, Wang Mo Ping’s painting titled ‘Jurong Fishery Port’ earned him the first place oil painting category at the annual Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Awards by Singapore Art Society in 2019.
