Singapore Chinese Ink Painting - Beyond Nanyang

Singapore Chinese Ink Painting - Beyond Nanyang

In his book titled The Journey of Minds: Chinese Modernity and Chinese Ink-Painting in Singapore, Dr Woo Fook Wah writes about how artists in Singapore analysed the findings of Chinese Modernity and continued the journey on a different trajectory. He thinks that the development of a Chinese-Ink Painting Style in Singapore eventually took a path influenced by the confluence of thinking between the West and evolving Chinese modernity. This resulted in an underlying thread of ideas possibly laying the foundation of a Singapore identity in a portfolio of unique ways of creating Chinese paintings.
